Skill

To do something very well or to possess expert ability is what we call having skill. Skills are different than talents because they can be taught and aquired rather than inherited. A skillful person is capable of going that extra mile or pulling off a feat that, to others, may seem more difficult. When learning a skill, the teacher or influencer passes on secrets, techniques, and other information so that the student can fully grasp the concept. Once the concept is understood, practice and experience further develop the skill so that it can be used effectively. Having skill in a particular field is very beneficial because it can give you an advantage over competition and also provide opportunities to pass on knowledge of said ability to further educate those willing to learn. Even though skills aren't as "unique" as some talents, the skills you choose to pick up give you a special skill set. For example, everyone can learn how to play the piano, but a talented person may not have to learn in order to play. Just because that person inherited the ability to play well doesnt mean they know how to read music. So if you learn how to play the piano by reading music, it makes you a little more well rounded. You will be able to play, read, and share your story on how you became skillful playing the piano versus being born with the talent to play. Skills can take a lot of time to master but when referring to them, it isnt the destination to becoming skillful but the journey getting there that makes them special.
